We are pleased that you have an interest in our club’s Celtic activities here in Nevada County.
Today there are seven regions that continue many of the Celtic traditions from the past. If your genealogy takes you to Wales, Ireland, Brittany, (France) Scotland, Cornwall or Isle of Man (England) or Galicia (Spain) you are a Celtic and we would like you to consider joining our Society.
Please join our gathering Wednesday, September 28th.
Social hour begins at 6:00 pm, followed by a potluck dinner at 6:30. Everyone is asked to bring an appetizer, entrée, or dessert for 8 to 10, your tableware, and beverage of your choice. Water, coffee, and tea are available.
Our Program for September:
We have a wonderful musical program this month – the Grass Valley Male Voice Choir, a direct descendant of the Cornish miners’ choir that flourished from the Gold Rush era into the twentieth century.
The Cornish miners who came to Grass Valley loved singing which led to an all male voice choir that sang in Grass Valley for over 90 years and performed in national radio broadcasts in the 40’s and 50’s, including deep in one of the mines.
The tradition was revived in 1990, conducted by Eleanor Kenitzer with men and women singers, and continues to this day.
Please join us – you don’t have to be Celtic!
