By all means, do what works for you.

August Meeting

Please join our gathering Wednesday, August 23rd. Social hour begins at 6:00 pm followed by a potluck dinner at 6:30.

Everyone is asked to bring an appetizer, entrée, or dessert for 8 to 10, your tableware, and beverage of your choice. Water, coffee and tea are available.

Our program this month is presented by historian and author Gary Noy, a Sierra Nevada native and current resident.

He is the son and grandson of Cornish hardrock gold miners and a history professor at Sierra College and author of numerous books.

Noy will present an illustrated lecture highlighting one of the hundreds of thousands of eager migrants who rushed to California seeking wealth and adventure during the Gold Rush. He will detail the adventures of Scottish writer and artist John David Borthwick, whose descriptions and depictions of Gold Rush life are among the most entertaining and enlightening accounts of this momentous era.

His most recent book, Gold Rush Stories: 49 Tales of Seekers, Scoundrels, Loss and Luck, will be available for sale and signing.

Please join us - you don't have to be Celtic!
